ODPS Launches 100 Days of Summer Safety Program

 

100 DaysSummer has officially arrived, and the Ohio Department of Public Safety wants to have the safest summer on record. The Department is launching the “100 Days of Summer” safety program aimed at reducing fatalities and injuries on Ohio roads caused by impaired driving and failing to buckle up.   MORE

More than half of those who died in traffic crashes on Ohio’s roads last July 4th were involved in alcohol-related crashes. The Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) wants to remind all motorists not to drive impaired or unsafe so that no one becomes a statistic this July 4th holiday.   MORE

 
 

The Governor's Highway Safety Office has a New Name

 
 

The GHSO is now known as the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO).  With some realignment and the addition of the Traffic Statistics section (formerly Data Services), the new name more closely represents the office.  The office will now consist of Motorcycle Ohio, Driver Training, Office Administration, Federal Programs and Traffic Statistics. 
The mission of the office remains the same which is to, “Save lives and reduce injuries on Ohio’s roads through leadership and partnering efforts with others interested in traffic safety, utilizing the most innovative and efficient methods possible of managing state and federal resources.”

 
 
 

ODPS Leads Motorcycle Safety Awareness Efforts

 
 

It’s time to get out and enjoy Ohio.  Whether you’re traveling the state’s scenic byways or interstates, in the coming weeks, motorists should begin noticing more motorcycles on the road and ODPS wants to remind motorcyclists to “Ride Smart” and motorists to “Drive Smart.”    MORE
