Miami Township (lead agency of the Montgomery County OVI Task Force) lead southwest Ohio's Click It or Ticket efforts with their press conference and live broadcasts with local news stations as well as aggressively ticketing seatbelt violations that were found when motorists were pulled over for other offenses.

As of May 23, 2008, Miami Township Police alone issued 75 seatbelt citations to unbuckled motorists.

A Seat Belt Checkpoint was held in Miami Township on Mad River Road. The checkpoint, designed to thank motorists who are buckled up as they stop for a stop sign, was a huge success. Motorist were greeted by Miami Township Police Officers who provided an information sheet and small give-away items inside a "What's Holding You Back" plastic bag. All four Dayton market news stations were invited and all took video, interviews and "man on the street interviews" of motorists who all gave positive remarks of our event. The news segments were shown on WDTN (2), WHIO (7), WKEF (22) and WRGT (45) and hopefully
will be recycled through the weekend news.

During the checkpoint, 244 drivers were greeted and only 3 were not buckled, however we did display much signage prior to the motorists stopping.

So far the Miami Township Police Department has issued over 140 restraint violations!
