The Third Grade Safety Belt Program is offered by the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, through local law enforcement agencies.

The classroom presentation consists of a 30-minute lesson, taught by a uniformed officer. It provides the student with very positive contact with local law enforcement. Students will learn about safety belts through discussion, activities and demonstrations.

Upon completion of the program, students will receive the Safety Belt Deputy pledge to always wear their safety belts and to encourage others to do the same. Each student will also receive special materials and additional information to take home to their parents.

This program creates a good buckle-up habit for life!

                                    Sign up for the program!

The Ohio Traffic Safety Office also recommends the following two videos for use during classroom lessons regarding safety belts: "Buckle Up Critters" and "The Back Is Where It's At!"
You can order the videos free-of-charge by clicking here.
